Assam to file case against cement companies

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the concerned officials to file cases in the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Consumer Forum against cement companies for hiking the price. Earlier this month, Sonowal had held a meeting and questioned 25 cement companies about the reasons for the hike and asked them to cut the rates immediately. He had stated that increasing the cement prices more than the rates available in other states would create a wrong impression in the minds of the people. On the other hand, Sonowal had also asked the company officials to come up with ways to keep the cement prices in check so that common people were not adversely impacted.
