Embassy Office Parks REIT, India’s first listed REIT and the largest office REIT in Asia by area, has achieved the distinction of operating and maintaining the world’s largest ‘USGBC LEED Platinum v4.1 O+M’ certified office portfolio by Green Business Certification Inc. (‘GBCI’).
Embassy REIT received this certification for all 77 operational buildings spread across 12 office parks in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and NCR. The largest office REIT in Asia by area, Embassy REIT, has achieved this LEED Platinum certification for all of its operational properties totaling 33.4 mn sq ft, indicating adherence to the highest operational standards for sustainability.
Vikaash Khdloya, CEO, Embassy REIT, said, “We are extremely pleased to have achieved this significant milestone. To become the world’s largest USGBC LEED platinum-certified office portfolio reinforces our leadership position in providing truly world-class and sustainability-focused properties to global occupiers and their employees. We continue to drive sustainable growth of our business as part of our commitment to achieve net zero carbon operations by 2040.”
In October last year, as part of its ESG strategy, Embassy REIT announced its commitment to achieving 75% renewable energy usage across its properties by FY2025. An existing 100 MW solar plant supplying electricity to its Bangalore properties, as well as an ongoing project to install solar rooftop panels with a capacity of over 20 MW across its pan-India asset base, are central to achieving this target. Embassy REIT has also implemented several initiatives to reduce energy and water consumption, as well as promote waste recycling in its parks.
