EPACK & Korea’s Bumjin Team Up to Turn Up India’s Audio Game

EPACK Durable, India's leading manufacturer of consumer durables with strong capabilities in room air conditioners and a growing presence in small domestic appliances, has entered into a strategic partnership with Bumjin Electronics Co. Limited (Bumjin), a global audio solutions manufacturer headquartered in South Korea. The agreement, signed on July 24, 2025, marks Bumjin’s foray into the Indian market and supports EPACK Durable’s vision to broaden its presence in emerging categories within consumer electronics.

The partnership will focus on the manufacturing of soundbars, television speakers and Bluetooth audio devices, strengthening the presence of both companies in India’s rapidly evolving smart device ecosystem. By combining EPACK Durable’s large-scale manufacturing, R&D and distribution strengths with Bumjin’s globally recognized expertise in audio technology and product design, the collaboration aims to meet rising domestic demand for AI-integrated, high-performance audio solutions.

For EPACK Durable, this collaboration represents a significant step toward its broader roadmap of diversifying beyond air conditioners and building a comprehensive portfolio of both small and large home appliances. The manufacturing operations of the products are expected to commence by Q3 of FY 2026, with the combined entity targeting a 30% market share in its category. It would support portfolio diversification and enhances brand visibility in the consumer electronics space of the company.

This JV will facilitate the transfer of technology, knowledge and best practices fostering innovation and development to cater requirements of local customers and export.

Commenting on the alliance, Ajay DD Singhania, MD & CEO, EPACK Durable Limited, said: “This partnership marks an important milestone in EPACK Durable’s journey to expand into next-generation consumer electronics. By combining our large-scale manufacturing and distribution strengths with Bumjin’s deep expertise in speaker technology, we aim to deliver high-quality, locally manufactured products that are aligned with evolving consumer needs and global standards. Beyond expanding our product portfolio, this partnership allows us to strengthen our position as an end-to-end electronics manufacturing partner, while advancing India’s capabilities in high-value electronics production.”

Bajrang Bothra, Chairman, EPACK Durable Limited, added: “This collaboration reflects our continued focus on building future-ready, scalable businesses in emerging product categories. The strong traction we are already witnessing from OEMs highlights the market potential in the audio segment. With a clear go-to-market plan, robust operational groundwork and a partner like Bumjin bringing proven technical capabilities, we are confident of performing at speed and scale to meet growing demand both within India and globally.”

This joint venture will also enable the transfer of advanced international technology, knowledge and best practices, fostering innovation and product development tailored to local market needs. In addition to enhancing domestic capabilities, the collaboration will open up opportunities for exports, contributing to broader economic growth. It is also expected to reduce the import dependency of speaker systems, which currently holds 25% of the market proposition in India.
