GNIDA approves extension of Greater Noida phase-II metro
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority has approved the extension of phase 2 metro connectivity from Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park 5 in Greater Noida. The alignment will consist of total 9 stations with a project cost of Rs 2602 crores. The first phase of the project which will have 5 stations - starting from Noida sector 71 and go on to sector 122, sector 123, sector 4 to Greater Noida west at Ecotech 12 and culminate in Greater Noida sector 2 - will kick-off soon, sometime in 2019. The cost of the first phase of the project is Rs 1521 crores and it is expected to complete by 2020-21. While a detailed project report (DPR) was prepared for the entire project in 2016, the same shall be reviewed and extended with changes where necessary said Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey on Tuesday. “The metro consecution will be done on pro rata basis,” said Pandey. Even as Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRA) has been appointed the nodal agency for the phase 2 metro expansion scheme, GNIDA will provide Rs 151 cr as its part of the share (from the total Rs 1521 cr) for the first part of phase 2 metro expansion. Rest of the amount will be procured by NMRC from Noida authority, central and state government. Project and land departments of GNIDA will work together to survey land required for the metro work. “The two departments will work together in gathering all necessary data from geographical survey to removing encroachment on land for metro work,” said Narendra Bhooshan, CEO of GNIDA.
