Goa cement maintain solid price uptrend

Cement dealers in the state are hoping for demand to pick up. But in the meantime there is no respite to the consumer from soaring cement prices. The steep hike in cement prices from February 2019 onwards by manufacturers has left even dealers surprised. According to local dealers, the hike comes at a time when demand is weak and the housing sector which accounts for over 60 per cent of the consumption is witnessing slowdown. Some of the visible cement brands that are present in the Goa market includes ACC, UltraTech, Birla Shakti, JSW and JK cement. The top two brands in the state are ACC and Ultra Tech which have the maximum number of dealers. The recent hike in price was around Rs 20 for most cement brands including ACC, UltraTech, and JSW except for Birla Shakti where the price increased Rs 70 per bag.
