Grasim Industries, a flagship company of Aditya Birla Group, is all set to start commercial production of its paint venture in Punjab soon. The industry has completed the construction of its integrated paint-manufacturing unit at Hi-Tech Valley in Dhanansu village of Ludhiana. Set up at a cost of Rs 910 crore, the state-of-the-art unit has commenced its trial run, as per state department of industry and commerce.
Once the plant commences commercial production, the development will act as a catalyst to boost industrial activity in the region. This paint unit of Aditya Birla Group will provide around 2,000 job opportunities directly and indirectly.
DPS Kharbanda, director of the department and chief executive officer (CEO) of Invest Punjab, said, the representatives of Grasim Industries and they are ready to commence commercial production. They may start paint manufacturing here at the end of February.” Last year, Grasim Industries had announced to launch its paints business under the brand name ‘Birla Opus’.
According to the department of industries and commerce, Grasim Industries started construction of the plant on 61 acres in December 2022. The Ludhiana plant is one of the six plants being set up by Grasim Industries across the country.
The plant has best-in-class safety and environment protection systems having zero liquid discharge. Sunil Kumar Juneja, investment facilitation officer (IFO) of the state industry and commerce department, said construction of the plant had been completed recently and now it had started its trial run.
