Lodha, India’s largest real estate developer, announced its inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) 2023, with an exemplary score of 77 out of 100 in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).
Globally, this ranks Lodha as the 3rd most sustainable company out of 266 companies, in the real estate management and development industry. This significant achievement underscores Lodha's unwavering commitment to setting new sustainability benchmarks within the global business landscape and highlights its role as a trailblazer within the industry.
DJSI is the world's leading provider of ratings that evaluates publicly listed companies and consists of top performers in the enhancement of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, with S&P Global CSA scores being among the key deciding factors. With an aim to showcase its ESG impact, Lodha first appeared on this benchmark two years ago and has made substantial strides since then, notably elevating its scores in the current year.
Commenting on the achievement, Aun Abdullah, Head - ESG, Lodha said, “We are honoured to be part of the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index and remain steadfast in our commitment to integrating sustainability into every facet of our business as well as setting new standards for responsible business practices. We see this as an opportunity to further catalyse our efforts and inspire others as well to pioneer the global movement towards a more sustainable future.”
In line with Lodha’s intrinsic vision of 'Building a Better Life,’ the developer has been spearheading sustainability in the real estate sector by formulating stellar initiatives and associations, such as the Lodha Net Zero Urban Accelerator in partnership with RMI aimed at to make net zero the new normal for the built environment, thereby accelerating and maximising the building sector's contribution to
India’s 2070 net-zero emissions target. Lodha’s consistent efforts of decoupling growth from emissions also recently led to the developer being recognized as the Global Sector Leader in the GRESB Development Benchmark 2023.
