The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to keep a close tab on residential complexes in the city where installing rainwater harvesting systems is mandatory.
As per the unified development control promotions & regulations (UDCPR), the rainwater harvesting system is mandatory for buildings on plots of 500 sq meters or more. It is mandatory for the architects and builders to comply with the norms before getting building and completion certificates.
However, after obtaining the BCCs, the rainwater harvesting system is ignored and it becomes defunct or non-functional. NMC Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar said the civic body will focus on the rainwater harvesting systems in a bid to recharge the groundwater level.
“As a part of this, we will keep a close and regular tab on residential complexes where installing a rainwater harvesting scheme is mandatory,” said Pulkundwar.
