Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has partnered with Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India Private Limited (SSMI) to establish a 28.12-megawatt green energy plant in Aachegaon, Solapur, Maharashtra. The project, commissioned by March 2024, will align with SSMI’s climate change strategy by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and manufacturing green steel.
TPREL’s CEO, Ashish Khanna, noted that initiatives like this lead to cost reductions, lowered emissions, enhanced energy security, and alignment with sustainability targets. He also highlighted the government’s emphasis on captive power projects for economic and environmental benefits across industries.
Dilipkumar Pachpande, Managing Director of Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India Pvt Ltd, emphasised that the collaboration underpins their commitment to clean and green energy solutions, contributing to carbon neutrality goals and bolstering sustainability. The project is expected to reduce SSMI’s carbon footprint by 42,534 tonnes annually while fulfilling energy needs and manufacturing green steel.
