The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has formed a four-member committee to formulate a strategy and resolve all complaints on the dumping of construction and demolition (C&D) waste in the residential and commercial areas of the city.

The corporation formed the committee on because such complaints have piled up in the absence of any company designated to collect, transport and dump the C&D waste generated in the city. “Currently, there is no private firm working on collecting and transporting the C&D waste of the city. So, the committee will make stop-gap arrangements to resolve all the complaints that the MCG has received so far. It will take up all complaints submitted through multiple platforms.”

The committee includes additional municipal commissioner Rohtash Bishnoi, chief engineer Thakur Lal Sharma, executive engineer of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Satpal and SBM consultant Anil Mehta.

According to the MCG officials, the agreement between the corporation and a private company for collecting, transporting and dumping the C&D waste is currently on hold. The private firm faces an inquiry for alleged fraud in C&D waste collection, which it has denied.

At the last MCG house meeting on February 24, the corporation decided to lodge an FIR against the firm even though a committee formed by the state government is currently investigating the matter. However, the civic body has not taken any action against the firm yet.
