BUDGET WILL HELP ACCELERATE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
The budget, which is in line with the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat, has sharply raised allocations for housing to Rs 79,000 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), giving a further boost to the government’s programme to provide housing for all. This unprecedented rise of 65 percent over the last fiscal year’s Rs 48,000 crore for the completion of 80 lakh houses is a welcome move. In view of the fact that the programme has been extended to December 31, 2024, the budget will help accelerate construction activities, of which one of the principal propellers will be the development sector dedicated to affordable housing for the poor. The thrust on green growth, also among the seven saptarishis of growth identified in the budget, will bring about innovations in housing technologies.
