Government taking the issue of sustainable development seriously and working on it; Jalshakti Minister Shri Rattan Lal Kataria

The government is putting much emphasis on sustaining our nature and our rivers as well as on other steps as we pass through challenges of climate change, said Shri Rattan Lal Kataria, Minister of State, Ministry of Jalshakti at GEM International Sustainability Conclave & Expo 2020 organised by ASSOCHAM in New Delhi today. Extending his best wishes for the two day Conference & Expo, he said, “. Out of 306 river projects 106 have already been completed. Government is serious about nature and sustainable development. Such conferences would go a long way in solving the challenges that may come in the way of implementing sustainability programs and will give fillip to sustainability initiatives of public and private sector enterprises all across the country.” Delivering the Inaugural Address, Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, President, ASSOCHAM said, “Costs should not be the main factor in our sustainability efforts but our full effort should be on creating a sustainable development environment for all. We have resolved to come up with a white paper, in a month’s time, on ways to reduce Delhi’s pollution by 33% before the end of 2020.” Delivering welcome address Mr. Deepak Sood, Secretary General ASSOCHAM said, “We are committed to the cause of sustainability and sustainable development. We are happy to see the participation of people not just from the industry also from all walks of life including the international delegates. We will continue to hold such event initiatives to deliberate on new ways that we all can contribute to sustainable environment and development.” The conference was attended by several industry stalwarts like Mr Pankaj R Dharkar, Chairman, Council for Green & Eco-friendly movement (GEM); Ar. Sapna, Vice-president, Council of Architecture; Mr K. Narayana Rao, Group Dy. MD, Delhi International Airport Ltd.; Mr S.K. Lohia, MD & CEO, Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Ltd. (IRSDC) and Mr Dharanidhar Khatiwada, Director General, Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Nepal among others. ASSOCHAM organised GEM International Sustainability Conclave & Expo 2020 to facilitate discussion and promote environment friendly green building design and construction. The International Conclave and Expo was attended by 400+ reputed Nat            ional and International Architects, MEP, Environment and Sustainability Consultants including the prestigious delegates from the Apex Chambers from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan, MoHUA, MoEF & CC, MNRE, DST, NBCC, CPWD, BEE, CREDAI, ISHRAE, ASHRAE, IAQA and FSAI and many more.
