Additional chief secretary (Revenue and Power) PK Das has asked the deputy commissioners to start the probe and take details from the tehsils under their districts. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Haryana has now started the probe of registries of the year 2010 onwards.

The Haryana government had been on the firing line on the account of illegal registration of sale deeds of unauthorized colonies in the state, especially in Karnala, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Palwal and Sonipat districts without taking the clearances from the Town and Country Planning Department as well as from the Urban Local Bodies.

Initially the government had ordered to probe the sale deeds registered between 2018 and 2021. Around 6700 such registries were detected across the state and around 400 tehsildars, naib tehsildars, DROs, Patwaris and registry clerks are faced with the department action and are likely to be chargesheeted.

While this issue was yet to die down, the opposition parties had raised this issue again during the budget session of Haryana assembly. Consequently, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar has ordered to bring all the registries since 2010 under the scanners of DCs for scrutiny.
