Masterplan for New Town Development in Hosur

The masterplan for Hosur new town development is ready and the government has issued an order inviting objections and suggestions from the public. Many of the reclassifications requests are from regions including Coimbatore and Hosur. The master plan will facilitate organized development.

Officials from the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) said they would upload the master plan on its website next week. Once the feedback from residents is received, it will be sent for the final plan for the government’s approval said Hitesh S Makwana. Secretary, Housing and Urban Development.

The government issued orders in 1984 for a new town development plan that was to cover 57 villages. Now consent has been given for the plan which includes around 130 villages covering 734 sq km. This has been pending for almost 35 years it is essential at a time Hosur is witnessing rapid industrial growth. As of now, there are more than 1500 industrial units in Hosur. After a prolonged lull, the government in the 2021-22 budget announced an urban development authority for Hosur and DTCP prepared the masterplan.
