PM To Launch Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan on June 20

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch `Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan` on June 20 to boost livelihood opportunities in rural India. The campaign of 125 days across 116 districts in 6 states aims to work in mission mode to help migrant workers. It will involve intensified and focused implementation of 25 different types of works to provide jobs and create infrastructure in the rural regions of the country with a resource envelope of Rs 50,000 crore, the PMO office said. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the details of the PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan. The livelihood opportunities will come up in 116 districts spread over six states who have received substantial numbers of migrants. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the rural public works scheme on June 20 from the district of Khagaria in Bihar. A total of 25 works under government of India will be brought together in those districts where migrants have gone back and under these 25 schemes livelihoods will be given.  Here are the key points Within 125 days, for 116 districts, nearly 25 schemes of the government will be brought together under the 'Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan'. * Villages across 116 districts in the six states will join this programme through the Common Service Centres and Krishi Vigyan Kendras. * The campaign will be spread across 125 days and aims to work in mission mode to help migrant workers. * It will involve intensified and focused implementation of 25 different types of works to provide jobs and create infrastructure in the rural regions of the country with a resource envelope of Rs 50,000 crore. * A total of 116 districts with more than 25,000 "returnee" migrant workers across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha have been chosen for the campaign. * The scheme will be a coordinated effort by 12 different ministries, including rural development, panchayati raj, road transport and highways, mines, drinking water and sanitation, environment, railways, petroleum and natural gas, new and renewable energy, border roads, telecom and agriculture. * The central and state governments have meticulous mapped the skill sets of the migrant workers who have returned in large numbers to the 116 districts in six states: “The Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan comes as a truly positive move, and India Inc. stands with the Prime Minister in support of this endeavour.” Said Dr Niranjan Hiranandani - President - ASSOCHAM & NAREDCO Anshuman Magazine, Chairman & CEO - India, South East Asia, Middle East & Africa, CBRE stated, “The mega employment scheme for migrant workers is a welcome step for the industry. This will not just generate jobs in the country’s rural areas, but would also give infrastructure development a big boost.”
