Punjab government has now decided to accept applications for registration with Real Estate Regulatory Athority (RERA) on holidays too. The counters would be set up at Punjab Civil Secretariat-II, Sector 9, Chandigarh as well as PUDA Bhawan, Sector 62, in Mohali. The department has also decided to keep these counters open on July 29 and 31 for the convenience of promoters and real estate agents. Till date, applications from 28 promoters and 52 real estate agents have been received for registration. Spokesperson of the department issuing an appeal said all promoters and real estate agents in the state should come forward and get themselves and their projects registered to avoid any kind of obstacle in their business. This will also help them escape penalty as provided under Section 60-62 of Punjab Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016. In the event of failure to comply with the provisions of the Act, promoters would not be able to advertise, market, book, sell or offer for sale or invite intending buyers to purchase any kind of real estate in the projects promoted by them. Besides, Section 9 (1) of the Act provides that no real estate agent shall facilitate sale/purchase of any plot/apartment/building in any real estate project without obtaining registration from Real Estate Regulatory Authority.
