The website of Uttar Pradesh RERA which was launched yesterday by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was filled with over 15,000 complaints from the aggrieved homebuyers by the end of the day. According to CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association) members, the shower of complaints even slowed down the site for the builders to log in and register their projects. The vice-president of Credai (western UP), Amit Modi informed media, “Registrations started well in the morning as registration is mandatory for all builders. However, reportedly the registrations slowed down by mid-day because of the onslaught of buyers’ complaints on the site.” Abhishek Kumar, president, Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (Nefowa), said, “Aggrieved buyers have been lodging their complaints since morning. Most buyers are dissatisfied with the manner in which the RERA has been brought in as the definition of the ongoing projects. So buyers have been logging in to express their grouse both about their individual projects as we all as about the nature of RERA.” The Rera website has provision for registration of promoters, builders, projects and agents. In Gautam Buddha Nagar including Noida and Greater Noida, there are over 80 ongoing projects by 58 builders. Thousands of agents are operative in both cities. The homebuyers’ group welcomed the website but also demanded that Noida and Greater Noida should be provided a local RERA bench because all issues concerning homebuyers in Gautam Buddha Nagar are concentrated there.
