Brigade CMD Conferred Honorary Doctorate by Bangalore City University
Bangalore City University had conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree on Brigade Enterprises Limited’s Chairman and Managing Director, M R Jaishankar. The honorary degree was conferred by His Excellency, Shri. Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Hon. Governor of Karnataka at a glittering felicitation function organized at Central College Campus, Bangalore City University in the presence Chief Guest, Padma Vibushan Dr. K Kasturrangan, Former Chairman, ISRO, Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan, Minister of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka and Pro-Chancellor of the University and Bangalore City University Vice Chancellor Prof. Lingaraja Gandhi and other dignitaries. He was recognized for his meritorious contributions to infrastructure development and philanthropic approach for social cause. Speaking at the convocation, Dr. K Kasthurirangan, former Chairman, ISRO and Chairman Drafting Committee, NEP - 2020 said that M R Jaishankar has done exemplary work in making a difference not only by changing the skyline of Bangalore, but also through his valuable contributions to social services, his interest in arts and music, and many other aspects. Commenting on receiving the Honorary Doctorate Degree, Dr. M R Jaishankar said that it is indeed a humbling experience and a great honour to receive this coveted recognition from one of India’s leading Universities. He said that he has been fortunate to have been surrounded by highly skilled and talented colleagues, without whom, he would not have been able to achieve his goals. He also conveyed his gratitude to his family, who stood with him through difficult times and have shared the same levels of ambition and grit. He added that he felt overwhelmed to have been able to make a difference to the lives of people. Dr. M R Jaishankar is a visionary businessman and philanthropist with an unrivalled passion to always raise the bar. His leadership and commitment to his work and to the community speaks volumes. Known for holding the highest standards of integrity in a challenging sector, Dr. Jaishankar’s sharp business acumen, visionary ideas, hard work and most importantly his humble nature have been his keys to success. He has always strived to give patrons the best in terms of quality and service in order to maintain high customer satisfaction. Jaishankar is the founder of the Indian Music Experience, IME, a monumental and philanthropic initiative of Brigade Group, conceived and sponsored to give back to society and to educate the present generation of the rich culture and diversity of Indian music. The IME comprises tech-enabled interactive multimedia exhibit galleries, a sound garden, a learning centre for music education and several performance spaces. This is the first and only museum of music in the country, and is an institutional affiliate of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. IME has received recognition and support from the Ministry of Culture - Government of India, the Government of Karnataka and a host of banks and corporates.
