BMW Industries inaugurated two tube mills and 1.28 MW rooftop solar power plant at its Jamshedpur facility. An investment of Rs50 crore was made, funded through bank finance and internal accruals. The expansion increases tube manufacturing capacity by 60,000 MT, totaling approx. 6,00,000 MT per annum.
Harsh Bansal, Managing Director, BMW Industries said, "We are pleased to start operations of the new tube mills at our Jamshedpur plant. This addition aligns with our long-term growth strategy and supports our focus on increasing output to meet market needs. The solar rooftop installation is part of our efforts to reduce dependency on non-renewable sources and manage energy use more effectively. These steps are in line with our ESG vision and will help in building a more efficient and responsible manufacturing setup. We thank all teams involved in making this milestone possible and remain committed to steady progress."
The newly installed solar power plant will help meet part of the facility’s energy needs and reduce its carbon footprint. The company has also installed a solar power plant to partially meet the facility’s internal energy needs, helping reduce reliance on conventional power and advancing the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Chief Guest Sanjay Surajprakash Sahni, The Executive In Charge of Tubes Division of Tata Steel, alongside senior company officials and dignitaries.
With this addition, the company's tube manufacturing capacity will grow by approximately 60,000 MT per annum, taking the total installed capacity to about 6,00,000 MT per annum. The new facility has been developed to meet rising demand and improve manufacturing capabilities.
The new solar facility will support a portion of the plant's energy needs and reduce its carbon footprint. The expanded tube mill capacity will enhance the company's ability to manufacture steel products such as MS and Gl pipes, which are in growing demand across sectors.
With this development, BMW Industries Limited has taken a significant step in strengthening its presence in the steel services sector and reaffirmed its commitment to responsible and efficient manufacturing practices.
