Great Pyramid of Stockport to Become World’s Largest Curry House

The iconic Great Pyramid of Stockport is set for a dramatic transformation, becoming the world’s largest curry house. The historic 86,000 sq ft building, which has been vacant for years, is being converted by Royal Nawaab into a massive dining destination capable of seating up to 1,500 guests at once.

Once a prominent part of the Stockport skyline, the pyramid-shaped structure has long stood empty since its last use as Co-op Banking's headquarters, which closed in 2017. Now, with a £15 million development plan underway, it will offer a 360-seat restaurant and buffet on the ground floor, while additional seating for 680 diners will be available on the first floor. The upper levels will house more dining rooms, along with office space and storage facilities.

The ambitious project is expected to provide at least 150 new jobs and will be a significant boost to the local economy. The Great Pyramid, taken over by the Co-op in 1995, had been used as a call centre until its closure in 2017. Now, under the expertise of Royal Nawaab, the building is set to offer more than just a dining experience. With a reputation for delivering "unrivalled dining" and catering for large events, the new location will expand Royal Nawaab’s presence, adding to its existing restaurants in Perivale and Ilford. The restaurant’s signature offering is an all-you-can-eat buffet, typically priced at £28.95 for adults.

Royal Nawaab prides itself on its ability to cater for more than a thousand guests in one evening while maintaining a personal touch, making it an ideal venue for corporate events, parties, and weddings. With its grand reopening, Stockport's Great Pyramid is set to become a landmark in both dining and architecture.
