World’s First Transparent Swimming Pool in London
London has just got the world's first-ever transparent swimming pool. What is intriguing about this pool is that it is suspended between two buildings, which makes one feel that they are swimming in the air. This masterpiece has been named the Sky Pool, which is 82 ft long and is suspended 115 ft above a street. The pool is attached between the 10th floors of two buildings, in the Nine Elms neighbourhood in south-west London, which is next to the US Embassy. Another interesting highlight of this pool is that the floating pool also offers beautiful views of the House of Parliament and London Eye. This one-of-a-kind swimming pool can hold 50 tonnes of water and features a rooftop bar and spa. It is built by structural engineer Eckersley O'Callaghan, who is of the view that the structure would give the swimmers a feeling of flying while taking a dip in the pool. The Embassy Gardens shared the video of the people on Instagram, and shared details about the said pool. As per their post, 148000 li of water allows swimmers to float 35 m in the air between two residential buildings. The Sky Pool was recently inaugurated and, as of now, access to the pool is limited to the towers of the residents and their guests. Revealing more about the extraordinary structure, Embassy Gardens' website reveals that the concept of this pool was born in 2013. It further added that as they thought about the process, the idea that the pool needs to be somewhat transparent to allow swimmers see the ground, originated. After a series of technical discussions and drawings, the dimensions of the pool were decided. The project got the green signal when Embassy Gardens got in touch with architecture firms Hal Currey and Arup Associates to develop the design.
