Dilliwale Coming Closer To Mumbaikars

A vital 24 km Faridabad section of the much awaited DND–Faridabad–KMP Expressway was thrown open to traffic on trial basis few days back, leading to seamless travel in the region. The formal opening of the section is scheduled for today, November 12.

With this infrastructure boost the top two cities of the country have come closer cutting down on travel time from 24 hours to 12 hours between Delhi and Mumbai.

The DND–Faridabad–KMP Expressway also known as NH-148NA, is a 59 kilometer long, six-lane expressway that connects the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway to the DND Flyway and Ring Road in Delhi. It aims to directly link the national capital Delhi with Mumbai, linking multiple economic centres across five states: Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Starting from the Delhi's DND Flyway it passes through Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat and ends at Mumbai's Mira Road.

While it is just one section of the bridge opened, the opening of the entire expressway the completion timeline has been now adjusted to October 2025, according to Nitin Gadkari, the minister of road transport and highways.  The opening of the entire expressway promises better transportation, traffic movement and real estate growth in the coming times across the cities.

Real Estate A Beneficiary

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is poised to transform connectivity between India's two economic powerhouses, significantly impacting Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. By streamlining the movement of goods and people, this route will catalyse growth in commercial and residential real estate, driving up demand for properties in Mumbai – Delhi and surrounding regions.

Experts say real estate will emerge as one of the biggest beneficiaries. The regions adjacent to the expressway will witness soaring demand for residential and commercial properties. As economic growth accelerates, these areas will unlock new opportunities for businesses, residents, and investors alike.

Since its foundation stone was laid in March 2019, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has spurred a remarkable surge in real estate potential in surrounding areas. It will help build new industrial clusters, logistics hubs, housing developments, commercial centres, special economic zones, warehouses, and futuristic townships leading to overall growth.

The Challenge Ahead

Experts highlight that multiple exit points on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will boost smaller towns, but unregulated development may lead to chaotic growth. The effectiveness of stakeholders in monitoring this growth remains to be seen.
