Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on October 18th virtually inaugurated newly constructed 348 homes under the PM Awas Yojana for beneficiaries in Neemuch district via video conferencing.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that owning a house is every person’s dream, and there is no greater joy than having one. He highlighted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has helped over 4 crore people across the country build their homes. PM Modi has pledged to ensure that every citizen has a home, making housing a central focus of welfare and development initiatives.
Dr. Yadav shared that 348 families in Neemuch are now witnessing their long-cherished dream come true. This Diwali will be the most beautiful in their lives, as they will celebrate the festival in their new homes. He addressed the beneficiaries during a virtual inauguration of the housing colony built under the Affordable Housing Project by Neemuch Municipality, which is part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The event was held from Samatva Bhavan at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Extending greetings for the Grih Pravesh ceremony, Dr. Yadav also conveyed his best wishes for Dhanteras and the five-day Diwali festival to all homeowners. Quoting Prime Minister Modi, he said, “When a poor person’s home is lit up, that’s when the country truly celebrates Diwali.” Dr. Yadav added that Madhya Pradesh is progressing in this direction, celebrating a Diwali of welfare and development with the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.
He emphasized that the government’s policies are aimed at empowering the poor. In the past, schemes were launched in the name of the poor, but benefits often failed to reach them. Through PMAY, beneficiaries have received roofs over their heads with dignity and security, ensuring real, tangible support for those in need.
Under the PMAY (Urban) 2.0 scheme, the government plans to build 10 lakh houses across Madhya Pradesh. The state has been making rapid progress and recently received the Second Best Performing State Award for PMAY (Urban) implementation. Neemuch, in particular, has consistently performed exceptionally well in executing the scheme.
On this occasion, Dr. Yadav shared that homes worth ?134 crore are being handed over in Neemuch, including 144 houses for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 144 for the Lower Income Group (LIG), and 60 for the Middle Income Group (MIG). Additionally, the project includes 33 commercial plots, adding a business dimension to the colony.
He noted that the multi-storey residences are more than just homes—they are part of a well-planned, integrated community. The colony includes well-paved roads, an organized drainage system, overhead water tanks, a sewage pumping station, streetlights, gated security, a boundary wall, a children’s park, a primary healthcare center, a bus stop, fire safety facilities, and reserved land for a school. This integrated approach lays the foundation for a dignified life and a better future for residents.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Dr. Yadav said every poor person will have a pucca house. Work is ongoing in mission mode to provide urban poor with proper housing through PMAY. So far, over 49 lakh families in Madhya Pradesh have realized their dream of owning a home—more than 40 lakh in rural areas and 8 lakh in urban areas. “Our villages and cities are smiling together,” he said.
Dr. Yadav also announced that Neemuch will soon have its own medical college and will be connected by air services. He referred to Bhadwa Mata as the Vaishno Devi of Madhya Pradesh and noted that efforts are underway to further develop the temple site, enhancing local tourism and cultural significance.
He highlighted other welfare schemes, including the Ladli Behna Scheme, under which funds have been transferred directly to women’s accounts. An additional ?250 will be provided on Bhai Dooj. Farmers are being supported through the Bhavantar Scheme, and the government will now also procure kodo and kutki grains, strengthening the agricultural economy.
Dr. Yadav concluded by saying that Madhya Pradesh is celebrating both the Diwali of Lamps and the Diwali of Hearts. It is a moment of double happiness—celebrating the festival and witnessing the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for many families. He extended his best wishes for prosperity and good health to all new homeowners.
Neemuch MLA Shri Dilip Singh Parihar also addressed the event. He shared that, along with the PMAY colony of 348 houses, 25 gram panchayats in the Neemuch Assembly constituency received Swachhata Raths to promote cleanliness and hygiene.
Minister for Women and Child Development and Neemuch District In-Charge Minister, Sushri Nirmala Bhuria, also participated virtually, appreciating the government’s efforts to improve the lives of citizens through housing, welfare schemes, and community development.
