Nurturing Homes For Our Children

Like many other new asset classes, child friendly or kid-centric homes & projects are being developed across cities like Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Noida by major players such as Gera Developments, Ashiana Housing, Godrej Properties, Prestige Group, and Supertech to name just a few.

Though, being a relatively new concept, it is fast catching up with young couples and families.  Unlike the conventional housing projects designed with adult lifestyle in mind, the kid centric homes include features that focus on the wellbeing, safety and holistic development of children staying in the complex.

Amenities like world class sports facilities, playschools and creche are becoming a part of many residential projects across cities. Play areas for young kids designed away from vehicular zones and separate pods and alcoves for the teenagers to spend time alone are some of the distinguishing features being incorporated.

Automatic surveillance systems, safe elevators, high railings and well-lit pathways are essential for all residents, especially kids. In the interiors, rounded corners of walls and kitchen and bathroom platforms, non-skid tiles in wet areas, protected low level electrical points, are all part of child-friendly homes being built today.

As per developers, Kid-centric housing could potentially see a 5-7% price premium over regular residential projects. And with dual income families, the demand for such projects is only going to go up.

Children are the strength of the nation and foundation of the society; it is rightly so that we build homes also, that are safe and nurturing for the future generation of the country.
