Akshaya Tritiya, a day of great significance for Hindus, marks the beginning of prosperity and good fortune. Many believe making meaningful investments or embarking on new beginnings is sacred.
Real estate developers offer attractive deals and discounts to encourage home sales on this auspicious occasion. With enticing offers, this festive season becomes an ideal time to invest in real estate. Adding to the allure, the Reserve Bank of India’s recent repo rate cut has provided a much-needed economic boost, reducing borrowing costs. With interest rates at their lowest and deals shining as brightly as gold, this Akshaya Tritiya feels like a golden opportunity for those looking to invest.
Sharing his views on the significance of Akshaya Tritiya, Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman of Signature Global (India) Ltd., said, "Akshaya Tritiya is an auspicious occasion for purchasing high-value assets like homes, cars, gold, and other precious metals. Traditionally associated with prosperity and new beginnings, this festival continues to drive strong interest in real estate investments. Among various asset classes, real estate is unique as it offers a blend of financial stability and long-term wealth creation."
"Over the years, we have seen this period witness a surge in enquiries and bookings, particularly from first-time homebuyers looking for properties in both the mid and premium segments. These buyers are not only seeking luxurious lifestyles and modern amenities but are also making informed decisions with a long-term perspective. Akshaya Tritiya serves as a reaffirmation of trust in real estate as a safe and valuable investment, especially when economic sentiments are turning optimistic, and people are prioritizing asset ownership," he explained.
Sachin Bhandari, Executive Director and CEO of VTP Realty echoed similar sentiments, saying, "Auspicious occasions like Akshaya Tritiya have always held deep emotional significance in Indian households, often marking the beginning of life-changing investments. Real estate, alongside gold, continues to be one of the most preferred avenues, valued not just for its tangible worth but for the sense of security and legacy it brings. Over the years, we've consistently seen a surge in interest and conversions around this time, reaffirming the day's importance in the minds of homebuyers."
"We understand that buying a home is more than a financial transaction; it is a dream nurtured over time. That's why we collaborate with leading Financial Institutions to customise and ease the homebuying journey through flexible EMI options, registration support, and home loan assistance. These small, thoughtful steps go a long way in building trust and enabling our customers to take that leap with confidence.
We remain optimistic about the market's response to this Akshaya Tritiya and are confident that buyers will continue to invest in real estate's long-standing track record of value appreciation while also securing a home that truly resonates with their aspirations," he added.
Reflecting on the deep-rooted significance of the day, Manju Yagnik, Vice Chairperson of Nahar Group and Senior VP, NAREDCO, Maharashtra, said, "Akshaya Tritiya is traditionally considered as an auspicious time for initiating significant ventures, including real estate investments. This belief aligns with the cultural practice of making major decisions during shubh muhurat (auspicious timing), such as purchasing a home or performing Griha Pravesh (housewarming ceremonies), which adds emotional and symbolic value to the transaction."
"To capitalise on this sentiment, real estate developers in Mumbai roll out attractive offers and special schemes during key occasions. These include limited-period discounts, easy payment plans such as "buy now, pay later," zero down payment options, and, in some cases, gold coins with every booking. Developers also sweeten the deal with perks like home furnishing vouchers, free appliances, fully furnished homes, promotional contests or lucky draws.
This festive boost was reflected in March 2025, when Mumbai's real estate market witnessed a strong surge. Property registrations exceeded 15,600 units, while stamp duty collections hit a record high, underscoring growing buyer confidence and market activity," she continued.
Additionally, she noted, "Further fuelling this growth, banks and financial institutions have introduced attractive home loan offers this festive season. Following the RBI's recent repo rate cut, major lenders like SBI, PNB, and Union Bank reduced their lending rates by 25 basis points, bringing home loan rates down to as low as 8.25%."
"The combination of cultural significance and financial incentives leads to a notable rise in property transactions, highlighting the positive impact on buyer sentiment. However, while the occasion brings emotional value, it remains crucial for buyers to conduct thorough due diligence, carefully evaluating factors such as location, pricing, construction quality, and legal documentation to ensure a sound and informed investment decision," she concluded.
