The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group has announced a Rs. 600 crore expansion plan over the next five years, targeting the addition of approximately 1,000 keys to its existing inventory of 2,300. The expansion will be divided equally between owned properties and management contracts, strengthening the group's presence across established and emerging hospitality markets in India.
The group currently operates 14 hotels across the country, comprising 12 luxury hotels and two mid-scale properties under The LaLiT Traveller brand. Under the leadership of Dr Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and Managing Director, the company has expanded its operations since 2006, building on more than four decades of hospitality experience.
Owned Properties to Drive Expansion
The group's owned-property expansion will cover five destinations, with Ahmedabad emerging as a key market. The upcoming LaLiT Ahmedabad will be a 240-key luxury hotel, scheduled to open ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The group also plans to establish a presence in Chitrakoot with a property comprising approximately 50 keys.
Expansion plans extend to existing destinations. The group's 26-acre property in Bekal, located between the Arabian Sea and the Nombili River, will add 100 keys. In Goa, new wings and additional villas will contribute another 50 keys, while the Udaipur property will gain two new wings with 55 keys, alongside expanded banquet and spa facilities.
These developments are expected to strengthen the group's owned portfolio while expanding its reach into new destinations.
Management Contracts to Support Asset-Light Growth
Alongside investments in owned properties, The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group plans to accelerate its asset-light growth strategy through management contracts. The company is targeting close to 20 such contracts over the coming years, allowing it to expand its operational footprint without bearing the full cost of property ownership.
Vrindavan will be the first destination under this model, with a planned property of approximately 75 keys. The group is also exploring opportunities in Chennai, Hyderabad, Leh, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lakshadweep, Siliguri and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, among other destinations.
The strategy draws on the group's established operating systems, trained workforce and hospitality management expertise to enter new markets through partnerships with property owners and investors.
Expansion to Be Funded Through Internal Accruals
The Rs. 600 crore investment will be funded through internal accruals and savings. The company said its financial position has been supported by a significant reduction in interest costs over the past two years, enabling it to pursue expansion while maintaining financial discipline.
Commenting on the plans, Dr Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and Managing Director of The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group, said the company intends to invest in properties where it owns the land while relying on management contracts in markets where partners provide the capital. She emphasised that growth would remain aligned with the group's identity and service philosophy, Hospitality with a Heart, regardless of whether a hotel is owned or managed by the company.
The expansion marks a dual approach to growth, combining capital investment in select destinations with management-led partnerships to widen the group's national footprint over the next five years.
