Saudi Arabia To Construct Ultra-Luxury Upside-Down Skyscraper

It may appear like science fiction, but it is an “ultra-luxury upside-down skyscraper” wedged into the mountainside on the Gulf of Aqaba coastline. Developers in Saudi Arabia announced plans for the project, Aquellum. It is being billed as an underground city and tourist destination that "will offer guests a taste of futuristic living through its array of pioneering experiences."

According to developer Neom, the avant-garde project will be a 330-foot-tall, open-aired ecosystem brimming with luxury stores, performance shows and galleries. It will also have a plethora of green plants and natural light, despite being almost completely hidden within the 1,500-foot-tall mountain range. Exclusive and disguised destination It will be an exclusive and disguised destination, where guests will need to be shipped in from a floating marina to Aquellum via an underground canal.

Neom said that once inside, visitors will be met with a 'digitalized community' complete with lounging areas and innovative hubs. Virtual Reality The developer has said that there will be 'The Generator', a space comprised of various laboratories built to host scientists and researchers. It will have Virtual Reality as a major component with mock-ups showing guests donning VR glasses and watching digitized light cubes dance across the open-air ecosystem.

"Futuristic ecosystem" Neom said, "Aquellum represents a futuristic ecosystem that is harmoniously integrated into the natural surroundings." It developed 'The Line' a 75-mile-long, and mirror-wrapped, landscaper city in 2022. It would stand higher than New York’s Empire State Building.
