The overall value of real estate sold in Croatia last year reached 60 bn kuna ($7.8 bn/8.0 billion euro), an increase of 50.1% compared to 2020, the construction ministry said on Friday, referring to a report by a local think-tank.
The transactions for sale and purchase of real estate were equal to 14% of the gross domestic product (GDP) for 2021, compared to 11% of GDP in 2020, according to the report by the Institute of Economics Zagreb (EIZ), which is sponsored by the ministry. The report is published on the ministry's website.
Dwellings had the highest share in the overall value of sales of real estate in the Adriatic country last year, 38.6%, followed by construction land plots with 22.7% and family houses with 21.1%.
