With WFH Goa Is The Most Sought Destination To Live
Paul Dass, OBE – Founder & CEO Mayaland Homes What prompted the launch of Mayaland Homes real estate firm in Goa? I made a conscious decision to move to Goa from London to ease into the only kind of life I knew was worth living - inspired, tranquil and charming. During the search for a new home, I took matters into my own hands and started Mayaland Homes, bringing to Goa all the knowledge garnered over the last three decades of creating design-led homes in London and across India. Since its inception in 2017, Mayaland Homes has built luxury spaces in exclusive locations, adhering to the highest international standards in design, construction and maintenance services. Each eco-luxury home is exceptional and sustainable, merging progressive technology from around the world with the heritage of local artisans to develop spaces that are absolutely unique.   What are the challenges and opportunities offered by Goa as a real estate market? Goa is a very special place and everyone here has a very wide mind-set due to international exposures. The fusion of cultures along with its charming surroundings and spots has given Goa a unique potential of being an international tourist destination and has resulted in making Goa the most sought-after place to live in India and this is one of the biggest opportunities in the Goan Real Estate market. Mayaland Homes has taken this opportunity and opened a segment for the high-end spender of the Indian metros in Goa, by building good quality homes that are luxurious, just as you would find in Asian or Mediterranean destinations.  The challenge in Goan Real Estate market is to build environmentally sustainable structures and preserving the environment at the same time. Maintaining a good green count is also a challenge as we preserve as many trees as possible during the construction phase. In our current project, we have kept provisions for the tree to grow within and around the structure of the house. Another challenge is the long monsoons in Goa and harsh summers, which slows down the pace of work. Also during the pandemic, our design director had to completely work remotely on our first project.   How has the current pandemic situation impacted the luxury residential segment? There has been a positive impact of the pandemic in this segment as the high spenders are moving to Goa since international travels are on hold and Goa has become the most sought destination to live and travel. The concept of work from home has allowed many to re-locate their work stations to Goa. We at Mayaland Homes have now created workspaces within our plans in all future projects.   What are the company's current sales strategies and growth plans for the near future? On the sales front, we have decided to follow an organic growth path as we believe that Mayaland Homes has opened up a market for the high-end spender of the Indian metros, that wasn’t available in Goa. We are launching two more projects this year and plan to do so on a yearly basis. We have a 5-year plan in place and the end goal is to be the most respectable real estate developer in Goa, with our first project of creating Goa’s most coveted postal code - The Mews, Assagao
