Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will get 2,212 new bus shelters constructed under the Build, Operate and Transfer model (BOT model). The new shelters are being constructed on sites identified by the BMTC after it conducted a survey along with the BBMP.
Tenders were called for four categories – A, B, C and D. Tender will have to be recalled for A as no agency applied for the construction of 562 shelters as it was reserved for scheduled caste and tribes. Sign Post India Pvt. Ltd. has taken the responsibility of building 550 shelters under package B.
Officials informed that each bus shelter will have 25 to 29 sq mt space for display of advertisements. The department will have to collect tax for the advertisements.
