Chandigarh hikes Commercial property tax

The commercial property owners of the city will have to pay 10% more property tax to the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) as the Chandigarh administration has finally given its nod to the MC’s request to enhance the commercial property tax in the city. The said move has come for the first time in 15 years since the imposition of commercial property tax in the city in June, 2003. The civic body authority has prepared the list of the commercial property owners of the city in this regard and will start sending notices to them from the coming week. Though, some of the commercial property owners have deposited the enhanced amount, majority of them are yet to pay the tax.
