Delhi forms committee to review in circle rates

An empowered committee has been constituted by the Delhi government to review "discrepancies" in the circle rates in certain areas of the national capital. The Revenue Department has sought public suggestions on the review of circle rates by August 2016. The department has decided to review circle rates - minimum rates below which a property cannot be registered and forms the basis of stamp duty and registration charges for a property. The government's move comes after it received several complaints against the existing rates. According to a senior official, the committee will look into the grievances as well as the suggestions.
