Firm to build South Bombay arm of coastal road chosen
The coastal road is becoming a reality to the Bombay citizens which was proposed long seven years ago. On Tuesday, the BMC administration selected a contractor to build a portion of the 10km stretch connecting Marine Drive with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The civic body in 2011 proposed the total length of coastal road which is starting from the Princess Street flyover at Marine Lines and ending at Kandivli. The first phase has been divided into three parts. Separate bids were invited for each part and a joint venture of Hindustan Construction Company and Hyundai Development Corporation won the bid for the first part. It is expected that BMC would open the bids for the remaining two parts in coming days. It is expected that the selected companies should mobilize the resources soon and start construction the work after the monsoon ends.
