Gurugram is redefining Indian retail, evolving from a corporate stronghold into a next-gen shopping destination. Global and domestic brands—including Samsung and LEGO—are introducing immersive flagship formats, driven by the city’s digitally aware, affluent consumer base and upgraded infrastructure.
Samsung’s 3,000 sq ft Experience Store at DLF CyberHub transforms product interaction into a multi-sensory journey through AI-powered workshops and SmartThings integrations. At Ambience Mall, the LEGO Store offers creative engagement for families, while TRENDS 3.0 brings tech-driven fashion personalisation to life. These aren’t just shopping environments—they’re curated experiences.
Retail leasing in NCR grew by 57% year-on-year in Q1 2025, with Gurugram contributing over 52% of total activity, according to Cushman and Wakefield. High streets accounted for 61% of this growth, revealing a clear preference for footfall-rich zones near residential hubs. Fashion and F&B led leasing demand, each securing 24%, followed by entertainment (18%) and department stores (11%).
Developers are accelerating investments in Grade A retail spaces across emerging micro-markets like Golf Course Extension Road, Dwarka Expressway sectors, and New Gurgaon. With metro connectivity and rising residential density, these zones are becoming self-sustaining retail ecosystems.
Pankaj Jain, CMD, SPJ Group, observes, “The real retail story in Gurugram is unfolding in high-potential zones where people seek more than just shopping. Spaces that blend food, fashion, entertainment, and leisure are thriving, especially in newly developing corridors that offer visibility and community-driven design.”
Arjun Gehlot, Director of Ambience Malls, adds, “Malls in Gurugram are now playing a much larger role in shaping India’s retail identity. Consumers want ambience, events, and personalisation. Improved metro access and purchasing power have turned Gurugram into a magnet for marquee global and Indian brands. We’ve built holistic environments that go beyond traditional retail—from wellness and food zones to immersive art and experiences.”
Prakash Mehta, CMD of Ocus Group, highlights, “Retail leasing is booming due to revived high-street formats and shifting investor priorities. Strategically located corridors like Dwarka Expressway and Sector 99 are attracting attention for their long-term value. As developers, we see momentum building toward curated spaces that merge convenience with brand discovery.”
