In a Historic Step MHADA to Make 15 Cr Official Documents Public

In a landmark move towards transparency and citizen-centric governance, Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of MHADA, announced that approximately 15 crore official documents will be made accessible to the public. This initiative aims to streamline the administrative process and improve transparency in MHADA’s functioning

Speaking at the inauguration of the Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC), Visitor Management System (VMS), and Office Navigator at MHADA’s headquarters in Bandra East, Jaiswal highlighted the significance of this initiative. “By making 15 crore official documents available to citizens, we are reducing the dependency on Right to Information (RTI) applications and making access to information straightforward and hassle-free,” he said. He said the scanned documents are being uploaded and within a week these documents will be displayed of mhada’s official website. Sensitive and classified documents, however, will remain protected.

Jaiswal emphasized that MHADA, being a public institution, is committed to serving citizens more efficiently. The newly launched services aim to simplify public interactions. “We are taking consistent steps to make MHADA more open and accessible,” Jaiswal added. “Our goal is to simplify interactions and make information easily available to all citizens.”MHADA is also pushing forward its digital transformation agenda by promoting grievance redressal through online platforms, thus minimizing the need for physical visits. To assist citizens without digital access, especially from rural areas, MHADA has appointed dedicated staff. Public grievance meetings, or Janata Darbars, have also been organized to address concerns directly. Further, MHADA engaged an external agency to gather feedback across departments, helping the organization better align its services with public expectations.

In order to make citizens’ daily lives more convenient, a 100-day action plan has been formulated based on the directives given by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the instructions from Deputy Chief Minister and Housing Minister Eknath Shinde for the administrative departments of the Maharashtra Government. MHADA’s various divisional boards have implemented facilities for citizens as part of the seven-point 100-day action plan, focusing on key components such as ‘Ease of Living’ and ‘Website Enhancement.’ Sanjeev Jaiswal stated that MHADA will continue to emphasize citizen-centric administration and work towards providing greater relief and convenience to the public.

Jaiswal also provided updates on key housing initiatives. He announced that the keys would be distributed at BDD Chawl by May 15.

While speaking about the Girni Kamgar housing scheme, he pointed out that the eligibility of over one lakh registered mill workers has been finalised by the Mumbai Board. Jaiswal further emphasised that there is still a strong demand for housing in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and MHADA is working towards delivering 6.5 lakh homes in near future.

Jaiswal further stated that Mhada is targeting the delivery of 6.5 lakh homes across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Significant stock focusing on EWS (Economically Weaker Section) to MIG (Middle Income Group) categories will soon be available as redevelopment projects at Motilal Nagar, GTB Nagar, Sindhi Society, and PMGP Jogeshwari gain momentum. The use of 3 FSI provisions is helping accelerate these developments.

Besides Seven cluster redevelopment projects at Prabhadevi in south Mumbai are also taking shape. Also Mhada’s In Kokani board will complete , 3,000 houses in near future while 7,000 have already been sold, with the rest expected to the process for be completed within a year. Another 7,000 houses will be ready for sale over the next two years.
