JSW Group in talks to set up Industrial Park in 2,500 acre at Salboni, WB

JSW Group is said to be in talks with the West Bengal government to set up an industrial park on 2,500 acres of land at the site of its proposed steel cum power unit in Salboni. The group had already acquired nearly 4300 acres and it is hoping to use 1500 acres for setting up various units under its paints, cement and steel and power business. The remaining 2500 acres had been identified by the group as surplus for which it has no possible use as of now. Therefore, it is in dialogue with the state government and is looking at setting up an industrial park.

While speaking at the launch of the product from their new cement unit at Salboni, Parth Jindal, MD, JSW Cement said, “We are expanding our cement plant and also planning to set up a colour coated and galvanizing line at Salboni under JSW Steel and a paints unit.”  JSW group is also in talks with a global energy major to set up a solar power unit there. “Besides we would also like to grow cash crops in the area that will offer livelihood and employment to a total of around 300 people,” he said. JSW group had promised some 488 jobs to land losers in Salboni. Jindal said that the state government has not asked them to return the land and instead has urged them to look at further investments there.
