Khemka takes a dig at RERA appointments

Senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka on Monday took a dig at the appointments made by the Haryana government in Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) saying an officer who had given clean chit to Vadra-DLF land-licencing deal was now rewarded with a lucrative post.

The Manohar Lal Khattar government had on Sunday appointed retired IAS officer Rajan Gupta as chairperson, RERA, Panchkula, and Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, K.K. Khandelwal as chairperson, RERA, Gurugram.

Refraining from naming anyone in his tweet, Mr. Khemka, who was recently transferred for the 45th time in his 23-year-long career, said: “An officer, who was member of committee that gave clean chit to VADRA-DLF land-licensing deal in 2012, is now rewarded with the lucrative post of real estate regulator. Instead of being hauled up, some continue to make hay. What could be the secret mantra of their 'successes'?”

In less than 22 hours, the tweet was retweeted more than 4,500 times and got more than 6,000 likes.

More than 400 people commented on the tweet expressing solidarity with Mr. Khemka’s statement.

The Haryana government had in 2012 formed a three-member committee, headed by then ACS Krishna Mohan, to probe into the issues raised by Mr. Khemka in the Shikohpur land deal between DLF and Robert Vadra's company. The other two members of the committee were then ACS, Irrigation, K.K. Jalan and then financial commissioner principal secretary (excise and taxation) Rajan Gupta.
