As the real estate industry evolves, diversity and inclusion remain pivotal in shaping the future of leadership. Addressing this shift, Realty+ is gearing up for the fifth edition of the Women Icon Conclave & Awards 2025, scheduled on May 29 at Novotel Mumbai International Airport Hotel. The conclave, themed "Leadership: Changing the Power Paradigm," promises to highlight how female leaders are progressively reshaping the traditionally male-dominated real estate sector.
In a recent precursor panel discussion moderated by Sapna Srivastava, Editor of Realty+ Magazine, three distinguished women leaders—Dr. Ananta Singh, Founder and Chairperson, NAREDCO Mahi; Fancy George, CEO, Thomas Workspace Design; and Sarina Menezes, Head and Vice President-Brand Marketing and Corporate Communication Head, Oberoi Realty—provided a compelling preview into the upcoming event, emphasizing the critical need for continued dialogue, mentorship, and inclusive leadership.
"Real estate must have 50% women—wherever women drive things, they bring a refreshing perspective to the table," stated Dr. Ananta Singh Raghuvanshi, Founder & Chairperson NAREDCO Mahi, passionately during the discussion. She underscored the significance of addressing workplace microaggressions, remarking, "Microaggressions at work silently diminish women's voices—recognizing and stopping this is essential. The best way to predict the future for women in leadership is to create it ourselves."
Adding to Dr. Singh's perspective, Fancy George CEO Thomas Workspace Design highlighted the importance of active inclusion rather than symbolic representation. George shared her inspiration behind forming WIRE (Women in Real Estate), recalling a pivotal moment at a professional event years ago: "If you're invited to the party but not asked to dance, that's not inclusion." She emphasized the need for measurable leadership metrics based on emotional intelligence and impact, advocating, "Leadership isn’t just about visibility, it’s about impact." George further encouraged women professionals to assert themselves, reminding them, "Women should never hesitate to speak up—thank yourself first, because you deserve it."
The conversation also featured Sarina Menezes, Head and Vice President - Brand Marketing & Corporate Communication Head, Oberoi Realty who transitioned from hospitality to real estate, bringing insights into leadership from both industries. She emphasized mentorship as crucial for women's professional growth, advocating that mentors should ideally be outside one's immediate workplace. "Mentorship isn't advice; it's guidance. Choose mentors outside your workplace to truly grow," she advised. Menezes further touched on resilience as an essential trait for women leaders, adding, "Having thick skin is crucial—women leaders must learn to handle challenges without losing confidence."
Moderator Sapna Srivastava, Editor Realty+ drew attention to the evolving role of men in creating inclusive workplaces. "Men aren’t just part of the problem; they're key to the solution—building inclusive workplaces requires cooperation," she pointed out. She also underscored the importance of self-branding and proactive networking among women professionals, urging, "Women must not underestimate self-branding; if you don’t highlight your own achievements, no one else will."
As the event approaches, the Realty+ Women Icon Conclave & Awards 2025 promises more extensive discussions, with over 30 eminent women leaders expected to share their insights and experiences. The conclave aims to foster networking opportunities, mentorship, and dialogue to propel more women into leadership positions within the industry.
Summarizing the event's core vision, Fancy George aptly encapsulated the spirit of the upcoming conclave: "Platforms like these are essential—not just for visibility but to ensure women's voices are equally heard." This sentiment was echoed by Sarina Menezes, who sees the event as a unique space for motivation and inspiration. "Women need just two things to rise—encouragement and motivation. Events like these make all the difference," she asserted.
Set to be hosted in-person for the first time, this edition of the Realty+ Women Icon Conclave & Awards 2025 stands as a significant milestone in Realty+ continued journey of championing diversity and equity in real estate leadership.
