London-origin Madame Tussauds, with 200 years of history, is all set to open a centre at the mall — it’s first since the one in Delhi’s Connaught Place closed down during the pandemic.
Called Madame Tussauds India, the “entertainment facility” will come up in a 16,000sqft area on the fourth floor of the mall. It is estimated to be launched in early June. “This time around, we were searching for a better location as we expect the post-pandemic consumer behavior to have changed. People will now look for a more spacious and easily accessible place. In CP, there were crowds and hawkers outside, plus the entry and exit were compromised for Covid protocols,” said Anshul Jain, General Manager of Merlin Entertainments that manages Madame Tussauds India.

Jain exuded confidence that the move was a thought-out plan for Madame Tussauds, which has signed a long lease for the space in the mall. “We are here to stay. The centre will house around 50 wax statues of renowned personalities, politicians, actors and celebrities across the fields of history, entertainment, sports and music,” Jain said.
