Mumbai's Final Development Plan-2034 to come into force from November
The excluded parts of Mumbai's Development Plan-2034 will come into force on November 13 and not October 24 as announced earlier. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the state urban development department said the delay is on the account of mistakes and typographical errors in the sanctioned Excluded Plan which are now being corrected. Mumbai's final DP-2034 has been sanctioned in parts by the state government. After the BMC general body approved the draft DP, it was sent to the state government for its final approval. The government had set up a scrutiny committee to go through the draft before giving the final approval. However, the committee suggested several changes to the draft approved by the BMC. The major changes required fresh public hearings under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act.Thus, the first part was finalised in May this year and came into force from September 1. This was the part that required little or no modification. The Excluded Plan is the second part where 168 changes to the Development Control and Promotion Regulations (rules to implement the DP) have been finalised after public hearing. The Excluded Development Plan sheets are the third part that are likely to be finalised by the year end.
