In a move aimed at strengthening the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) ecosystem in India, Nemetschek India and Anna University inaugurated the Anna–Nemetschek AEC Centre of Excellence on July 15, 2025. Located within the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering, Guindy, this new facility represents a strategic collaboration to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry demands.
The Centre was inaugurated by Dr. P. Thiaga Rajan, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology & Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu, alongside key dignitaries including Mr. Sunil Pandita, Chief Division Officer, Nemetschek Group; Prof. K. Shanmuga Sundaram, Director, CUIC, Anna University; and Mr. Nirmalya Chatterjee, Managing Director, Nemetschek India.
The initiative stems from a memorandum of understanding signed in March 2025, with the shared vision of building an industry-ready AEC workforce through advanced training and technology exposure. The Centre will serve as a hub for students from Anna University and its affiliated colleges, offering certification programs and hands-on learning using Nemetschek’s software suite, which will be made available free to students.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Sunil Pandita emphasized the group's commitment to preparing the next generation of AEC professionals with practical knowledge and digital tools. Echoing the sentiment, Prof. S. Kanmani, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, stated the Centre would enrich students' learning through integrated training and research opportunities.
In a post on social media, Dr. P. Thiaga Rajan called the initiative “a powerful example of how academia, industry, and government collaboration can build future-ready talent.” He highlighted the Centre’s role in adapting civil and architectural education to emerging trends like AI, ML, and IT.
Supported by ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, the Centre will leverage scalable training models developed in partnership with Nemetschek India to benefit both students and faculty. This collaboration reflects Nemetschek’s broader goal to digitally transform AEC education in India and foster a culture of innovation and skill development.
