New Zone in Amravati Master Plan to Allocate Homes for Poor

New Zone in Amravati Master Plan to Allocate Homes for Poor

New Zone in Amravati Master Plan to Allocate Homes for Poor

Andhra Pradesh Government has created a new zone in the Amravati Master Plan to allocate house sites to the poor. About 900 acres of land has been reserved for the same, with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) issuing a notification calling objection from the locals over the changes.

The CRDA board has already authorised the changes in the master plan and also the proposal to allocated house sites to the poor. The amendments to CRDA Act has also got the approval of Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan.

The government’s earlier move to allocate house sites to the poor from across the state in the core capital city area met with resistance from the local farmers who challenged the move and approached the high court.

They argued that the land spared by them under the land pooling scheme (LPS) should not be granted to people who are not part of the core capital city area.

They said such an allocation would result in a demographic imbalance in the capital city. The farmers also suspected that it was a move by the government to suppress the voice of the locals by allowing non-locals to migrate to the region.
