The department of Urban Development on Thursday notified the rules for the appointment of the chairperson, members, officers and other employees under the Goa Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Regulatory Act (RERA).
A special selection committee headed by secretary for urban development J Ashok Kumar will identify and recommend suitable members as chairperson and members of the Goa Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Regulatory Authority.
While the government cannot overrule the selection committee’s recommendations, it will have to justify if it chooses to go against the order of preference listed out by the selection committee. The state government is yet to appoint a full time RERA authority, hence Kumar has been appointed as an interim chairperson.
