Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited, one of India’s oldest and most trusted names in rail infrastructure, has bagged fresh orders worth over Rs. 78 crore from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) and Central Railway. The new projects reinforce the company’s growing role in India’s Make in India and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat initiatives, which aim to boost homegrown manufacturing and self-reliance in critical infrastructure sectors.
The first project, valued at Rs. 44.61 crore, comes from Maha-Metro for the Pune Metro’s PCMC–Nigdi Elevated Extension. Texmaco will handle the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of several vital systems, including a 25kV Flexible Overhead Catenary System, 25kV Sectioning Posts, a 33kV Auxiliary Sub-Station, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. These systems are crucial for ensuring efficient and safe metro operations.
The work is scheduled to be completed in 110 weeks, marking another milestone in Pune’s ongoing transit expansion. Once operational, the PCMC–Nigdi corridor will improve last-mile connectivity for thousands of daily commuters and reduce traffic congestion across the city.
The second order, worth Rs. 33.89 crore, comes from Central Railway for the Ahmadnagar–Beed–Parli New Broad Gauge Line. Under this contract, Texmaco will design, manufacture, supply, erect, test, and commission a 132kV/55kV Scott Connected Transformer system. The project will be executed within 12 months and will significantly boost power supply reliability across the new rail corridor.
According to Mr. Sudipta Mukherjee, Managing Director of Texmaco Rail & Engineering, these contracts highlight the company’s strong capabilities and commitment to quality. “These orders are a testament to Texmaco’s contribution to India’s infrastructural growth,” he said. “Our goal is to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions that not only meet project deadlines but also advance India’s journey toward self-reliance and sustainable development.”
Both projects demonstrate Texmaco’s technical expertise in railway electrification and metro system integration, areas that are critical to India’s transport modernization drive. Electrified and automated rail networks not only reduce carbon emissions but also cut operational costs, improve speed and reliability, and lower the long-term maintenance burden on the national transport system.
Over the years, Texmaco has built a strong reputation for precision engineering and timely delivery. Its in-house R&D and modern manufacturing facilities allow it to produce world-class components and systems while maintaining cost efficiency. These latest orders add to Texmaco’s growing list of urban infrastructure and electrification projects across the country, cementing its position as a key player in India’s push for smarter, greener transportation.
Industry experts see the company’s latest wins as strategically significant. India is aggressively expanding its metro rail networks in tier-one and tier-two cities, while Indian Railways is accelerating its 100% electrification goal to reduce fossil fuel dependence. Texmaco’s deep experience in both rolling stock and power systems makes it well placed to support this transformation.
The company’s alignment with national initiatives like Make in India, Aatma Nirbhar Bharat, and Viksit Bharat also ensures that it contributes to building not just physical infrastructure but also local expertise and jobs. By sourcing, manufacturing, and assembling domestically, Texmaco helps strengthen India’s industrial base while ensuring long-term economic resilience.
With these latest projects, Texmaco Rail & Engineering continues to reinforce its leadership in the rail and metro infrastructure space. Its focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability is positioning it as a vital force in India’s journey toward a more connected, electrified, and self-reliant future.
