The Ivory House: Where Luxury Meets Everyday Living

Tucked away in one of Pune’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, this home is a stunning reflection of the city’s evolving luxury landscape—where opulence meets modern functionality. Once known for its quiet charm, Pune has become a vibrant hub for affluent communities seeking grand yet livable spaces. Here, luxury isn't just about extravagance; it’s about crafting a lifestyle where every element of the home feels deeply personal, yet undeniably indulgent. The Arch Studio’s founder, Siddhina Sakla, is at the heart of this transformation, whose design philosophy blends flamboyant aesthetics with practical living solutions.

In this residence, the spirit of the city's sophisticated clientele—particularly for a community known for its love of grandeur—finds its ultimate expression. The project isn't merely about making a statement with elegant interiors; it’s about creating a home where opulence is integrated with everyday ease.

The home’s layout, a spacious three-bedroom apartment located on the third floor, maximises every square inch to create an expansive and seamless flow. The entrance foyer immediately sets the tone with its intricate moulding details, a nod to neoclassical design. As you move further, the living and dining spaces reveal how Siddhina tackled the client’s desire for openness. A major structural change was made by knocking down a wall that separated the living room from the kitchen, opening up the space and introducing a breakfast counter.

The choice of furniture plays a crucial role in maintaining the fluidity and spaciousness of the home. Low-slung sofas and chairs with minimal backs were carefully selected to ensure that the visual lines of the room remained unobstructed, contributing to a sense of openness. These elements not only complement the home’s aesthetic but also cater to the practicalities of everyday living. Despite the indulgence in luxury, the space is highly functional. The sofa, for instance, is both visually striking and supremely comfortable.

One of the standout design challenges was the integration of air conditioning without compromising the sleek, luxurious feel of the home. Traditional split ACs, which often project awkwardly from walls, were avoided. Instead, a custom concealed system was installed, allowing the air conditioning to blend into the home’s design. This thoughtful integration speaks to Siddhina’s ability to marry aesthetics with practicality, ensuring the space remains comfortable without sacrificing its visual appeal. A cohesive tonal palette runs throughout the home, anchored by a single paint shade—Desert Palm. This warm, earthy hue serves as the backdrop, while colour is introduced through rich upholstery, luxurious marble finishes, and golden accents. The delicate use of gold, particularly in elements like panelling and artefacts, elevates the space without making it feel garish.

Lighting also plays an integral role in enhancing the home’s grandeur. The dining area features bronze mirror panelling, which not only reflects light but adds a sense of depth and elegance. While many designers opt for chandeliers directly over the dining table, Siddhina made a bold choice to position it between the dining and living spaces, creating a unique interplay of light and air. This decision reflects her careful consideration of both aesthetics and functionality—allowing for the use of ceiling fans in the dining area, an often-overlooked practicality in Pune’s climate.

In the master bedroom, a sense of rustic luxury takes centre stage. The room is dominated by shades of brown, with a stone-finished wall panel behind the bed, giving it an earthy yet upscale feel. Large windows allow natural light to flood the room, enhancing the space's natural tones and creating a serene environment. The room is designed to offer both style and relaxation, with carefully selected materials that speak to luxury without overwhelming the senses. The master bedroom’s layout, which includes a separate walk-in wardrobe area, provides a private, spacious retreat within the home.

The kitchen is a model of functionality, designed with everyday living in mind. It features a modular layout, complete with antique brass handles, tall units for ample storage, and an L-corner with open shelves for easy access. The breakfast counter, an extension of the living space, connects the kitchen visually and functionally to the rest of the home. Marble flooring in the living and dining areas further enhances the seamless flow between spaces.

Siddhina’s attention to detail extends even into the bathrooms, often a neglected space in terms of design. Each bathroom in this home is a work of art, with carefully chosen tiles and mirrors that reflect the same luxury seen throughout the rest of the space.

The final result is a home that perfectly embodies the client’s personality and lifestyle—a luxurious, flamboyant space that remains functional and comfortable. It’s a reflection of the local culture, where over-the-top design is celebrated, but it’s done in a way that retains warmth and elegance. Every room, every detail, and every piece of furniture in this home tells a story of indulgence, balance, and thoughtful design.
