To meet rising demand for affordable housing in the Bundelkhand region, the Uttar Pradesh Housing Board (Avas Vikas Parishad) is set to launch two major residential schemes in Banda and Chitrakoot. These greenfield townships will span 338 acres in Banda and 161 acres in Chitrakoot, offering a combined total of 13,950 housing units, with nearly 90% of plots earmarked for individual home construction.
Land acquisition has already begun, with estimated development costs of Rs1,390 crore for Banda and Rs895 crore for Chitrakoot. The schemes will be located in prime areas of both districts, and are expected to significantly boost housing access in underserved regions.
Additional Housing Commissioner Niraj Shukla confirmed that the board is also accelerating work on the Saumitra Vihar scheme in Lucknow’s New Jail Road area, with RERA registration and documentation underway. Expansion plans are in motion for Varanasi, Unnao, and Moradabad, where clearances have been secured to broaden the scope of residential development.
