Lighting today is no longer just about illumination. It has become a statement, a mood-setter and, increasingly, a form of art. Reflecting this shift, White Teak by Asian Paints has introduced Anisora, a new lighting collection that treats light as a living, expressive element rather than a functional afterthought.
Designed by atelier oï, the renowned Swiss design studio, the collection brings together global design thinking and material-led craftsmanship. The studio is known for its collaborations with international luxury brands such as Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso and Rimowa. More recently, atelier oï showcased an experimental lighting concept with fashion house Issey Miyake at Milan Design Week 2025, reinforcing its reputation for pushing creative boundaries across disciplines.
At the heart of the Anisora collection is a poetic idea drawn from nature. The designs take inspiration from a luminous seed, an object that symbolises quiet strength, potential and transformation. The name Anisora itself reflects this thinking, combining star anise as a natural reference and the Latin word ora, meaning light. Much like a seed slowly awakening, light in these fixtures emerges from the centre and gently radiates outward, giving the design a sense of movement and life.
Material choice plays a defining role in bringing this concept to life. The collection is crafted using alabaster, a natural stone prized for its soft, opalescent glow and its ability to diffuse light evenly. Circular alabaster discs are arranged around a central axis, allowing light to filter through gradually. As the illumination spreads, it highlights the stone’s natural veins and textures, making each piece subtly unique. The result is a delicate interplay of form, material and light that feels organic rather than engineered.
Adding to the visual language are gold-toned metal accents that introduce warmth and refinement. These elements reference the elegance of traditional chandeliers and lanterns but are reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. The overall design feels restrained yet expressive, balancing heritage influences with modern minimalism.
The Anisora collection includes pendant lights, table lamps and floor lamps, making it versatile enough for different interior settings. Whether placed above a dining table, in a living room corner or beside a reading chair, each piece acts as both a light source and a sculptural object. The soft glow creates a calm, intimate atmosphere, enhancing spaces without overpowering them.
For White Teak by Asian Paints, this collaboration marks an important creative moment. Known for its focus on premium home décor, the brand has steadily expanded into design-led categories. Partnering with atelier oï allows White Teak to introduce globally recognised design sensibilities to Indian homes, while remaining rooted in thoughtful craftsmanship and material innovation.
Speaking about the launch, Amit Syngle, Managing Director and CEO of Asian Paints, said the brand has consistently aimed to push boundaries in material-driven design. He noted that the collaboration represents a significant step in bringing internationally celebrated design innovation to Indian consumers who value aesthetics as much as functionality.
From the designers’ perspective, nature remains the central source of inspiration. Armand Louis, co-founder of atelier oï, explained that the studio often begins its creative process by observing the surrounding environment. By allowing natural materials to guide form and structure, the design evolves organically rather than being forced.
With Anisora, White Teak and atelier oï together offer more than a lighting collection. They present a design philosophy where light, material and emotion intersect. In an age of mass-produced fixtures, the collection stands out for its tactile quality, sculptural presence and quiet sense of poetry, making light not just something that fills a room, but something that shapes how the room feels.
