The Union housing and urban affairs ministry has written to chief secretaries of all states, seeking information on all stalled housing projects registered with RERA by July-end.
The move is aimed at helping troubled homebuyers by ensuring the delivery of such projects soon. The ministry has set up a 14-member committee, headed by former Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, to examine issues related to stalled real estate projects and recommend various ways for their speedy completion.
For the committee to submit recommendations it needs to have detailed data on stalled projects from every state. While some states have sent the data, major states are yet to share the information.
