Government Sets Up Panel to Resolve Navi Mumbai’s Real Estate Issues

The urban development department set up a four-member committee headed by former chief secretary Sanjay Kumar to resolve issues raised by developers and builders in Navi Mumbai and Cidco areas.

Besides, Kumar, the Principal Secretary, the Urban Development Department, Cidco Joint Managing Director, and Nominees of leading organisations and the real estate sector are panel members. As per the urban development department’s order, developers and builders in Navi Mumbai are facing issues, after Cidco leased out lands.

“Government’s attention has been drawn to problems faced by leaseholders while developing their lands. Cidco has been appointed as the nodal agency for development in the entire Navi Mumbai area. Further, Cidco is looking after the development of Navi-Mumbai international airport, Navi Mumbai metro. In addition, areas in jurisdiction of Navi Mumbai and Panvel civic bodies too are being developed under the overall supervision of Cidco,” a senior official said.

As per terms of reference of the committee, it will have to decide on fees to issue mortgage NOC, if concession can be given in payment of lease rent following the delay in providing basic infrastructure. The panel must submit its report in three months.
