The buildings inaugurated under LIFE Mission scheme will provide houses for 174 people without houses or land. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated four housing complexes under the LIFE Mission scheme. The scheme will provide houses for 174 people without houses or land. Vijayan inaugurated the initiative by handing over keys to the beneficiaries at Kadambur in Kannur. He said that the dream of every person to own a house will be realised.
“The LDF Govt in Kerala is ensuring #HousingForAll! Today, inaugurated 4 housing complexes, fulfilling the dream of 174 families. Through the #LifeMission over 3,40,040 beneficiaries have already received houses. 1,06,000 more houses will be completed this year,” the CM tweeted after the inaugural function. In addition to Kannur, inauguration of new Life mission scheme was held in Punalur in Kollam district, Vijayapuram in Kottayam district and Karimannoor in Idukki district. The houses were completed as part of the 100-day programmes of the second anniversary of the LDF government.
Each flat comprises a living room, two bedrooms and a kitchen. Separate facilities are provided for differently-abled people. In Kadambur, keys were handed over to 44 families. Local self-government Minister MB Rajesh presided over the function. In Punalur, Minister KN Balagopal and J Chinchurani handed over the keys. Ministers VN Vasavan and Roshy Augustine handed over keys in Vijayapuram and Karimannoor respectively.
LIFE (Livelihood Inclusion and Financial Empowerment) is the scheme envisaged by the LDF Government to provide houses for homeless and landless families by incorporating state and central schemes.
